Ecommerce news and updates

Shopify Flow now includes new actions to retrieve data about gift cards, locations, and cash tracking sessions. These “Get data” actions allow you to filter and fetch up to 100 resources, such as updated gift cards, location details, and cash tracking session information from your POS Pro. Use these tools to streamline workflows and access key store data efficiently.

Shopify Payments’ Adit Daga hosted an unofficial AMA on Reddit, asking the community for feedback on improving the product. Suggestions included better fraud detection, faster payouts, easier split payments, chargeback protection for high-ticket orders, and more global installment options. Many users highlighted issues like random payout holds and concerns over fees. Daga plans to check back on the thread to respond to more feedback, so share your thoughts to make your voice heard.

Shopify Payments is now available in 5 more countries! Last week, it launched in Croatia, Slovenia, Latvia, Malta, and Estonia. This comes right after the previous week's expansion to Hungary, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, and Poland. That means Shopify Payments is now up and running in 35 countries—and there’s more to come!

Google Business Profile now lets businesses create QR codes to encourage customer reviews ✨

This feature directs customers to leave reviews on Google Search and Maps, improving visibility. Businesses can generate these QR codes on desktop by clicking “Ask for reviews” in their profile. Announced on March 4, 2025, this update aims to boost customer engagement and trust.

This is amazing: everyone on Twitter is talking about Google’s AI Gemini 2.0 Flash. Think of it as an AI-powered Photoshop that can transform any photo with just one prompt. One of the coolest examples was shared by someone who was running late for work. She turned a regular photo into a selfie at a metro station—complete with today’s date and workers blocking the way. Figuring out what’s true and what’s not is getting trickier every day!
