• The Shopify App Store now lets you search for apps by their functionality or what you need them to do, not just by name. For example, “Simplify the returns process”, “let buyers customize products”, or “Optimize images for SEO”.

• You can calculate your commerce platform ownership cost with TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) calculator. Study claims that Shopify’s TCO is up to 36% better than the competition. 

• Nicki Minaj has joined Shopify with her Pink Friday Nails brand.

• Retailers can now use decimal points for margins. Suppliers can set retailer margins with up to 2 decimal points in pricelists.

• Self-serve unblocking Markets Pro payouts.

• New keyboard shortcuts added to the theme editor to unlock quick left sidebar navigation and toggling tools such as the preview inspector and updating the preview window width.

• Skincare brand Beekman 1820 uses Shopify’s Market Pro feature to scale into 150+ countries.

👁 Photo of the week

An AI tool tested by an NHS hospital successfully detected small signs of breast cancer in 11 women missed by human doctors. Named Mia, the tool was piloted with NHS clinicians, analyzing mammograms of over 10,000 women. It identified all symptomatic cases and 11 others undetected by doctors. Without the AI tool, cancer might not have been found until the next mammogram 3 years later. This is the most exciting AI news I've come across in the past year!
