  • Shopify acquired Threads, a Sequoia-backed Slack alternative, for an undisclosed amount. The move follows interest from multiple companies, with Shopify chosen for its scalability. Integration plans with Shopify's platform remain undisclosed.

  • Sort filter values in the Shopify Search & Discovery app. Customize the order of your filter values on your storefront using the Shopify Search & Discovery app, now including Shopify Magic.

  • Shopify hit $1 trillion in cumulative gross merchandise volume, with 90% in the last 5 years! 10 years ago, Shopify had 100K merchants; now, it's close to 3 million.

  • Customize smart grids remotely from the Shopify Admin. Save time with the new smart grid editor, allowing configuration and assignment of layouts on a per-location basis.

  • Bundles are now available in draft orders.

Optimization tip

Search bar on the ecom store is a crucial element for user experience and conversion rates. Make sure to keep it visible and easily accessible, and consider using predictive search functionality for a seamless shopping experience. Give yourself a once-over with this handy checklist:

  • The home page contains a prominent search box near the top (or top-right) of the website

  • The search bar has an auto-complete and auto-suggest option

  • Auto-suggest searches through categories and products

  • The search results page shows the user what was searched for; it is easy to edit and resubmit the search

  • Search results are clear, useful, and ranked by relevance and how many results were retrieved

  • If no results are returned, the search engine gracefully ("oh, snap") offers ideas or options for improving the query based on identifiable problems with the user's input

Tech people are all buzzing about the Apple Intelligence release. Apple is introducing a more chatty Siri, personalized AI "Genmoji," and access to GPT-4o for when Siri needs a hand. People seem really hyped up about the smarter Siri that can now actually give useful answers 🍎 For me, the most epic update is the calculator on iPad that people have been awaiting for years! Some might tease, but those calculator features they revealed seem pretty cool to me.
