Shopify has extended the branding and color scheme to the login page for new customer accounts, allowing it to be branded using the checkout/accounts editor or the Branding API. Upcoming improvements include integrating the login page into the Theme Customizer and adding more controls for customizing branding choices.
The FTC introduced a 'click to cancel' rule requiring businesses to make subscription cancellations as easy as sign-ups, banning deceptive tactics. It mandates customer consent for renewals and prohibits requiring chatbots or agents for cancellations if the subscription was initiated online. In-person sign-ups must allow phone or online cancellations, and sellers must clearly inform consumers of the agreement terms.
Google Ads will remove data older than 11 years starting on Nov 13th.
Google Shopping gets a makeover with a personalized feed and AI-generated summaries. It's now packed with new AI-powered search and recommendation features. When users search for a product, they’ll see an AI-generated brief with key considerations and matching products.
Actor Tom Holland launches Bero, a premium non-alcoholic beverage brand, on Shopify. Sobriety not only changed Holland's life but also inspired his first business venture. Bero offers a new line of non-alcoholic beers in collaboration with Imaginary Ventures and brand-builder John Herman.
Amazon plans to invest in three nuclear energy projects with miniature reactors. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is committing over $500 million to projects from Virginia to Washington state to meet its growing clean energy needs driven by generative AI. This aligns with Amazon's goal of net-zero carbon emissions. These reactors have a smaller footprint and faster construction times than traditional ones.
Klarna now available on Apple Pay in US and UK. Options include paying later in three or four installments, plus financing for larger items, available to users checking out with Apple Pay online and in apps on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 or later, the companies said. The service will expand globally, with Canada joining soon.
