Jon here, founder at shopexperts (formerly heycarson).
In January we launched the new shopexperts - a global services directory for brands to find the best Shopify service providers for their business. We created a totally open platform, with no commissions for experts, and where brands can contact experts for questions, quotes - and work + payments can happen anywhere they want. By not trying to control the payments and communication, pairings are free to work where it suits them best. We have 200+ experts across every service category and growing!
We’re also trying something new after +150 issues as Shopify Entrepreneur weekly. We’ve been looking for a good newsletter name that could better fit our new direction at shopexperts - we landed on ShopOps weekly.
The goal is for it to be a quick but useful read - written for you not with AI. Topics for Shopify operators, curated by me - while tying in some of the great content being created by agencies and freelancers on our new directory. 7-figure brand stories, case studies, new service offerings and a showcase for our new experts!
I want it to be sharp and written for operators. Sometimes long, sometimes short. But skimmable for what’s relevant to you.

Case Study: Price Increases on Underperforming SKUs = ↑ 7% Gross Margin

An 8-figure Shopify brand looked healthy – strong revenue, big catalog – but had never analyzed SKU-level contribution margin. When Cameron Lee, a fractional CFO for ecommerce brands, dug into the numbers, he uncovered that 15% of SKUs were losing money, and low-priced items were quietly draining profit. After raising prices and cutting weak SKUs, revenue fell 20% but gross margin dollars rose 7%.
Lesson: revenue can hide problems; contribution margin tells the truth.
